Season 6 | Ep23 – Mike Lee on scaling and exiting his business and making well over seven figures
On this week’s show, I’m joined by Mike Lee, the former founder of a recruitment payroll company called Worker Group.
Now, this is not a normal episode where I interview a recruitment founder, but I felt that Mike’s experience and relevance to our sector would be a really good story for you guys to listen to.
Mike started his career in the industry 17 years ago, but he started his journey of running payroll companies at the age of 20 years old. At 35, he’s now exited, made well over seven figures, and he’s been through the process that so many people would like to go through.
So he went from salesperson to sales director to founder and then scaled the group that went through six acquisitions and then sold successfully at the end of 2021.
Mike formally exited his role at the end of last year, and he is now a consultant with the business.
In this episode, he talks about:
– The truth about the reality of growing a business
– Getting the business prepared for sale
– The highs and lows of selling a business
– Things that worked really well, things that didn’t
– What it was really like post-exit
He talks about the lack of purpose and direction that he instantly felt after he left the business and why he’s now gone into his new venture. Mike is an honest guy, a young successful entrepreneur that I believe we could all learn from.
